I have thought sometimes already about writing a blog, but I’ve always got frustrated when thinking about how to start and what to write in my first post.
After years of programming, every time I discover a new programming language, before trying to build a to-do app I (and everyone) see the classic Hello world example. So I decided to take action and start a blog by writing a Hello World post.
In this Hello World I’d like to introduce myself a little bit and explain why I want to write this blog.
Who I am?
As my site may suggest, my name is Jordi.I’m a software engineer from a town near Barcelona that always wants to learn new things and try new stuff when I discover them.
Reasons behind this blog
The first question that may arise is why am I writing this blog in English if I’m a Catalan guy. And this introduces one of the reasons why I want to create this blog.
In my daily activities as a software engineer, most of my communications and resources are in English, so I want to improve the way I write whilst opening the blog content to the whole world.
The second main reason why I want to write this blog is to enforce myself to learn new things and share them with anyone who might need it in the future.
So this means that the original idea for this blog is to write posts about features and resources from different programming languages that I find interesting and also try to work on code challenges/projects while documenting the journey.
If everything works as expected, in a year I’d like to come back to this post and see that both my writing skills and my “software skills” have improved and that in the process I’ve taught something to at least someone. If this happens, the purpose of this blog will have been accomplished.
I don’t expect this post to be read by anyone actually, but for me is a good way to start writing something and so that the next thing that comes to my mind doesn’t have the urge to be something important to be the first post.
However, if you have read it, I hope the next posts will be of more interest for you and I hope I may help you at some point in time.
Cheers!
